Nike Air Max 90 'Mars Landing'.
We are ten days away from Nike’s Air Max Day and the month wouldn’t be complete without a hot new release from the giants themselves. Nike are set to release its sequel of 2014’s Air Max 90’s 'Moon Landing' - now arguably one of Nike’s most coveted air releases!
Nike have gone extra-terrestrial with the latest 'Mars Landing' Air Max. This kick tells a story of one of the greatest achievements of humanity – When the Mars Opportunity Rover was launched off into space on a mission which lasted 16 years! It was set off to explore the surface of Mars and to determine if there was life or more.
Colour:Mars Stone/Magma Orange
Take a closer look..
The magma orange upper does a stand-out job resembling Mars. Nike borrowed this official image straight from the Rover and if you look closely at the silhouette, you’ll see the finely detailed mountains, valleys and ridges of the real-life surface. The design of the shoe itself is slightly different to standard AM90 releases. The upper of the sneaker is one complete mould with no signs of seams, stitching or layers overlapping giving it a solid look and feel. The upper is also fully packed with 3M reflective feature which shines bright when hit with a bright light and night. Taking a look at the medallion on the heel and patch on the tongue, the metallic silver finish pays tribute to the Opportunity Rover that we mentioned earlier, which explored the Mars surface. The vibrant silhouette continues its way onto the inner mesh which is padded for comfort. The inner sole also resembles this iconic visual of the big red planet.
The story of Mars continues down to the mid and outer sole. The solid black mid sole is covered in grey speckles which is packed with 3M reflective feature that allows the outer space aesthetic to flow through the whole sneaker. The outer sole is comprised of completely translucent rubber material layered over – what would be silver traction marks of the Rover vehicle.
It goes without saying this sneaker is absolute fire but will be coping? Let us know your thoughts!
